Understanding the Priesthood and their obligations

A priest is a person who is a part of a religious or a clerical society which practices the religious duties. They are authorised by a church to perform the rites of a specific religion. They are also authorized to perform sacred rites of sacrifice to, and propitiation for, a god or gods. Priests are also able to write sacred texts and keep sacred records. They may perform miracles and perform other sacred duties. In certain religions, priests are required to take an oath of obligation, which binds them to adhere to the teachings of their religion, or to stop others from violation of their teaching. Priests are involved in a variety of ways such as counseling, teaching, leading prayers or meditations and performing rituals or other rituals.

In ancient times priests were the kings or queens of their communities and were in charge of the instruction and guidance of the younger generation. The priest’s role was not restricted to his community alone and also included participation in the communal life outside the church. They also took part in genealogical work by keeping records of relatives and ancestors of the people they were helping. Priests can be of different age. Some are old while others are active and well-known in their communities. Priests must make many sacrifices for the Lord throughout their lives. They are eligible to be admitted into the Heavenly Kingdom by rising as “just” when they die. As a young person, when they leave their earthly life to go to college or a university and make a lot of sacrifices. In this world they must support themselves financially, through work and caring for their families. They enter the full happiness of God’s promises upon graduation, when they become the sons or daughters of God and our Father in Heaven is their Master and King.
